Busy with Vanessa
Last week we shot the cover and editorial spread for the first issue of Kraven Magazine featuring Vanessa Curry and FROCK LA. The team worked really well together despite the ruthless weather conditions. You have to love San Francisco for its constantly inconsistent weather. But somehow we managed to keep all the clothes clean and dry. Vanessa was a real trooper to withstand the cold and rain. I could barely feel my fingertips by the end of the shoot. Stylist, Chris Hyland, pulled some amazing pieces from Furla, Pink Stripes, Pliner and Anne Fontaine. I can’t wait to share the final photos. But in the meantime here are a few behind-the-scenes shots:

After the shoot we went to dinner then were off to the Castro to promote Vanessa’s song “Watch Me” (which, if you didn’t know already, is available for free on frockla.com). Around midnight the fabulous Drag Queen Darla had Vanessa go on stage and announce her song. As the song played we were throwing out CDs. The crowd’s reaction was overwhelming. It was inspiring to share an experience like that with a new artist. Such a gratifying feeling. At the end Vanessa stuck around to take photos and sign autographs with everyone who wanted them. I felt like such a proud papa!

It was a crazy night but the next morning we were up and ready to meet with James McCloud to go over footage for “Watch Me”. Not to hype things up too much but I am so excited about the music video! Everyone will get to see Vanessa and FROCK LA in a whole new light. Unfortunately, I can’t share any screen shots you’ll just have to wait till Decemeber 7th to see the real thing.
